Doublecross Book 3 Reveal!

Hello everyone! Guess what- we've learned the title of the third Doublecross book!

It is....

MISSION HURRICANE!!!!!!

I've got to admit, I'm slightly disappointed in the title. I mean, Mission Hurricane? It's cool, but it's kind of vague. I don't know. I just wish it gave a little bit more information.

So far, we know that it will be written by Jenny Goebel, released on January 26, 2016, and will have 192 pages. I hope that the cover is released soon, I want to know what it looks like!!!

What do you think of the title?

  1. Ugh, I really don't like the titles of this series. They just sound a little too kiddie in my opinion. When its a fantastic movie then they'll change the titles (:

Also, kind of confused by the whole "Hurricane" deal. The Outcast talks about how he can always rely on "human stupidity" for the right kind of devastation, and a hurricane is not a manmade thing.

Kind of hoping that this isn't the title because if they try to make a manmade hurricane that could end up being really cheesy. I've seen it in a few different places though so ):

    1. Oh but I am excited that Jenny Goebel is writing it. I really like her interviews, and she doesn't scare me like Sarwat Chadda does, threatening to kill my characters *pouts*

    2. Exactly. Day of Doom part 2, anyone? Did we not learn that weather machines are stupid????

I don't know much about her, but she doesn't scare me either haha

    3. Yeah, and soooo cliche. In my head I'm calling M. Hindenburg Sky On Fire because of the caption on the back- it makes things a lot more tolerable (:

      C. Alexander London… I don't know. I thought he'd do great when he came on, but after the search bar tempted me too much (but I'm not typing in ANYTHING else. Hold me to that please) from what I saw the book seemed kind of boring. At this point in the series, we can't afford to have a boring book! Hopefully I'm wrong.

Ugh, a Day of Doom part 2…. This is what'd happen: Ian would turn into a wimpy nothing and pour out his heart to Cara (who is not. right. for him) in a closet, Sinead would crawl back to them in the least cool way possible, they'll pretend that Att doesn't exist, Dan will have a photographic memory and nothing else, and Ham will lose all of his good qualities except for his muscles, because that's the only thing Tomas's are good at anyway, right??

    4. Ooh, I like that title!

Uh oh. I really hope it's not boring....I only typed three things into the searchbar, names, and I'm kind of surprised by the results.

Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!! I. Am. Dying. XD That is the absolute best.

      Haha, I love your comments!

    5. Yeah, whenever I use the search bar I try really hard to avoid using a word that could be used a lot because I don't want to spoil too much of the book, but then I'll end up typing in someone's name. Last time I typed in Jake's name (only 4 results ): and I ended up reading all the parts he was in, just by guessing what word came next.

Its just that the series only has three books left, and is Sky on Fire is a dud, we'll just have this book that everyone ignores because no one liked it. I really don't want that to happen...

    6. Oh really? I typed him in and got zero results. That makes more sense.

    7. Did you do that for M. Titanic or Sky on Fire?

      Delete
    8. Ohhhh…. that was what I was avoiding typing in because I didn't want to know :( I should've been more specific. So he's not in it at all *sighs* Amy should at least tell him whats going on. Even if he can't help, she's his girlfriend and he should at least know that she's not traipsing around France learning how to jump off cliffs.

    9. I meant last time as in M. Titanic. Sorry.

    10. Oh goodness, I'm sorry. :( I didn't know. I honestly don't understand how he isn't even MENTIONED. It said Fiske wasn't mentioned either. ..?

    11. Well, Amazon search bar can be kind of faulty sometimes. Once I was staring at a word as I typed it in and it said there were no results.

I'm nearly positive I saw Fiske mentioned in it. He's a Cahill, so he should be in it.

I really hope he's mentioned, but it does seem like something the authors would do. It just makes me sad to think that if something were to happen to Amy, Jake will find out totally out of the blue, because he thought that wherever she was, she was safe. I know the Outcast said they couldn't help, but he should at least know.

I have a really depressing theory, but I still think it makes sense: The Outcast has a list of "wrongs" committed by the recent leaders and he carries out specific punishments for them. E.g., he tortures Sinead because she betrayed the Cahills and Amy forgave her, or he hurts Jake and Atticus because they are outsiders and they relied on them throughout CvV and Unstoppable. Things like that. What do you think?

    12. Huh. I hope that's all that it is. I NEED FISKE!!!!!

As much as I don't like Jake, I don't think that he should be cut out either. Like, in this teensy way, it kind of makes me excited, but at the same time, it's just not right. You're right, if something happens to Amy, or any of their friends for that matter, Jake and Att shouldn't randomly find out about it, when they thought that everyone was perfectly safe. It's just not fair to them. Also, I mean, it's really just not realistic for Amy's boyfriend to suddenly drop off of the planet. I mean, REALLY?

Hmmm...that's not a bad theory. I'm not sure if it will actually happen, but it's a pretty good idea.

    13. Huh, I looked him up and he got zero results (Fiske). That doesn't make any sense though…

Well, they said he was going on a dig and would be off the grid, but you'd think people would say something about him. Or at least somebody thinks about him. If something happened to Dan and Att found out like that… Dan's his only friend (besides Jake and Amy, but they're older…) and he's been through enough trauma as it is. Sometimes I feel like they kind of downplay Astrid's death, especially in DoD. Like, Att told Jake about her being poisoned, and Jake didn't really seem all that torn up about it.

Anyway, its totally unrealistic for the guy who almost let himself drown because he couldn't let Amy go to just not even wonder what she's doing, or if she's okay at all. If he gets wind of whats happening, he won't just be like, "Okay, have fun and don't die." If he's not going to help, he's at least going to check up on the team to make sure they're ALIVE.

Yeah, I don't think it'll happen either, but I thought it would be a pretty big deal if the authors wanted the last books to be a bit more dramatic.

    14. It really doesn't! How can Fiske just disappear???

...That would be horrible. I agree about Astrid, there really wasn't much emotion put into it. I mean, if you found out that your mom had been murdered, you would be a bit more upset!!!

It is. He cares about her, and he's not just going to never check on her!

    15. Plus, you'd think they'd try and convince the Starlings a little more. They should be in it too. Everyone should have some part in the last books.

I want the authors to give us the story of the Rosenbloom family before and after Astrid died. I've wanted to know more about Astrid and Jake's relationship since Trust No One, and I'm curious to see what Dr. Rosenbloom was like before Astrid died. Maybe then he wouldn't make me so mad. He totally neglects Atticus and Jake. ):

Jake only showed emotion in DoD when it had something to do with Amy, and that made him seem extremely shallow. He's not a shallow character at all. He has a lot more personality than that.

Yeah its been making me so mad… Remember your characters, authors!

    16. I agree. This is the LAST SERIES. *sob* They need to involve everyone!!

That would be really cool. I've always wanted to know more about that, too. If they did that, it might even convince me that Jake isn't so bad! ;) I admit, I hate Dr. Rosenbloom.....

EXACTLY. He was sooooo shallow in that book. Ugh. More reasons to hate it.

      Delete
    17. Yeah I hated him too. Like, Atticus flat-out says that Jake is pretty much his parent instead of his dad, and thats just not okay for Jake or for Atticus. Jake is only 19. He can't take care of Atticus by himself. One thing that really bothers me is when people say that Jake doesn't care about Atticus. Just because of that stupid train scene in DoD where they forgot about him (something the real Jake would never do). Like, Jake is the only family member thats actually THERE for Atticus. They care about each other.

Plus, Dr. Rosenbloom didn't even try to understand what the Cahills were doing. And he calls Amy selfish when he isn't even trying to understand what they're saying to him. He makes me so mad...

    18. No, Jake DEFINITELY cares about Att. I may not like him very much, but I've got to give him that. He really cares about his brother.

      Exactly! Can't stand him.

  2. I did a small research yesterday, and I think that Hurricane was the name of a military aircraft that had an accident, so I Don't think that they mean the natural phenomenon, when they say hurricane:)

However, bevause of the icebergs meltdown and the increase of global warming, hurricanes are becoming more frequent. Given that human stupidity (as the Outcast says) is responsible for global warming, then nowadays, hurricanes could be considered a manmade destruction :)

    1. Hoping that its the military aircraft. I've read soooo many series where global warming suddenly becomes the top priority and then it gets ridiculously far-fetched *cough cough MAXIMUM RIDE cough cough* I think if it was a global warming thing the Cahills couldn't really do anything about that because its not just something you can fix overnight. Not trying to say that global warming isn't a huge issue, I just don't want it to be a part of the 39 Clues.

  3. Same here. Oh, I wanna read this;) indeed, they wouldn't be able to stop nature, so that won't work... Im so eager to find out!! :-)

    1. Ooh, I do hope that it's the military aircraft! That would be cool. A lot cooler than the stupid "Save the world from natural disaster" thing. Again.

    2. I kind of cringe when they say "save the world" in general, because its so overdone and I don't want it to seem like more of a kiddie series than it is, and then when they say they're going to stop the sky from turning purple, I'm sitting here rubbing my head like, "That's enough. Authors, stoooooop."

    3. And I still don't get how the sky turning purple had anything to do with Justin Bieber. If you understand what happened there, please enlighten me.
