Mission Hurricane Live Blogging- Chapters 14-17

Disclaimer: This post WILL contain spoilers. If you haven't read the book yet, you may not want to read this post.

Dan fills Amy in on the bomb situation. They're both kind of about to lose it, but Dan cheers up immediately when he sees Saladin on the screen. That was sweet.

They had to break into the hangar, tricks most likely learned from Light Fingered Larry.

The hangar was decorated with tons of different flight-related things, now covered with a layer of dust. We get another sad scene of Amy reminiscing. Jenny, you're killing me.

SERIOUSLY STOP WITH THESE SCENES AGH

OH MY GOSH THEY BROUGHT THE QUOTE FROM TITANIC BACK THAT WAS SO COOL

Ugh Alek. He always brings trouble...

STOP IT ALEK IRINA WAS WONDERFUL IM GOING TO HURT YOU.

He makes me nervous.

"The worst traps in life are set by the ones we love." Gosh I love that sentence.

"Would now be an okay time to mention that your grandmother always freaked me out?" XD I loved that section

I love how much of Grace is in this series it's great.

Oh my gosh I love that story about crooked frames. Even back then Grace was preparing you, Amy! If only you would see it!

HAM NO

Gosh

Ahhhhh I love how all the Grace memories have clues it's so cool.

Safe- open!!

Dang it we're back in Japan now

So Nellie and Sammy find Magnus stealing things from the Tomas vault- serum ingredients.

UGH LET THE SERUM DIE ALREADY

GO SAMMY!!! He disabled the fingerprint scanner so that Magnus is trapped in the room. Sammy, you rock.

Aaaaaand back to Massachusetts!

The kids have the files, but they're stuck underground. Yay.

Hamilton's awake!!! Sweet!!

Oh my gosh, so the "black files" were files that Grace collected of dirt on all of the Cahills. I kind of love it not gonna lie XD

There's even a file on Eisenhower.

Grace basically got him kicked out of West Point. I don't know what to think. On the one hand, I can see how it was for the good of the family. On the other...

YES WE FINALLY GET TO HEAR ABOUT NATHANIEL THERES A FILE HALLELUJAH

AMY. YOU DO HAVE TO TELL US NOW. SPIT IT OUT.

My guess is since it apparently involved Hope he threatened to kill her or something I don't know. I know that's probably why Grace ordered him out.

Someone's coming inside. Oh gosh.

NO! NOT JONAH!! NO!!!

Oh no..poor Jonah..why is it always his legs??????? I'm glad he's okay though.

Oh my gosh. ..foam? Um, is Alek dead..?

Mission Hurricane Live Blogging- Chapters 12-13

Disclaimer: This post WILL contain spoilers. If you haven't read the book yet, you may not want to read this post.

(Sorry, guys! I know you've been reading, but I got called off into the Skype world again. Oops!! But I'm back now, hopefully for good!!!!)

Back to Amsterdam!!

Cara, Ian, and Dan are trying to figure out the technicalities of a nuclear bomb exploding underwater.

I feel so bad for Ian in this moment, he has a horrible amount of pressure on him. Being the leader of the Cahills certainly isn't a fun job.

They didn't even tell us the worst part yet. Thanks to some digging, they learned that the disaster is going to take place...tomorrow.

(side note: am I the only one who wouldn't mind Cara having an unfortunate accident with this disaster?)

Back to Boston!

I'm pretty sure this is going to be the funniest chapter in the world.

"She requested that those present remain silent, and that no one be allowed to leave until the reading is over. So please, no matter how, er, ugly, this gets, do not vacate your seats."

Oh my gosh I can't wait to read this.

...this is beautiful XD

Oh my GOSHHH her last words to Amy and Dan. XD It's so mean but I just cannot stop laughing!!

SHE KEPT DIARIES!!! Oh my word what I would not give to read those. Can that be its own series? Please?

So of course Berman went off to hunt for the diaries..

Oh my gosh XD Beatrice donated her entire fortune of 20 million to the Porcelain Cats Are People Too Foundation XD That is golden.

Berman got the diaries, but Amy, Dan, and Hamilton threatened him into handing them over.

OH NO SALADINS AT THE SHELTER NONONO

The Cahills are frantically trying to find the shelter and save him. I SWEAR...

HES OKAY!! YAY!! I love how he nearly murdered that employee XD

Now time to read the diaries..

Oh my gosh, I love that Grace put fish oil in Bea's facial cream..

Amy is still worried about Grace, but I think from that entry it's obvious that Nathaniel was bad news. Come on, Amy. Trust her.

TIME TO CALL FISKE

I hate hearing him sick. It crushes me. He's still so sweet.

Fiske said that Grace might have kept some files that could be of use in her airplane hangar. Only problem- it's in Attleboro.

Back in Japan...

XD I love that Sammy rigged up the Tomas stronghold door with a pulley system. Go nerds!!!

George Washington was a Tomas? What? I thought he was a Lucian...?

Aaaand the stronghold is deserted. What on earth??

Meanwhile in the Netherlands, Cara and Ian are already bickering. Just kill me.

Dan isn't sure how to feel about the whole Grace situation. He's not at all as torn up about it as Amy is, that's for sure.

Apparently there's been a levee disaster in the Netherlands before, many years ago. Their delta system is insane- almost impossible to find a sabotaged levee. This won't be easy.

Also, can we appreciate that Dan went in a museum of his own free will? XD

Oh my gosh. The outcast could be planning to detonate a nuclear bomb underwater to cause a tsunami like reaction. I thought we didn't have to worry about bombs until the next book!

Back in Japan, Nellie and Sammy have been able to deduce that the Tomas stronghold hasn't been abandoned for long. Now to determine WHY.

Sammy (with his awesome skills) found a hidden room...

But now, to Boston!

XD I love that the video Hamilton trades went viral. Poor Jonah..

Amy is choosing to go to the will reading alone. Not the smartest decision in my mind, but okay..

Seeing Amy reminisce about Grace's will reading was really sad. That was so long ago...

FISKE IS TOO ILL TO SHOW UP?? SINCE WHEN IS FISKE ILL??? HE WAS FINE IN TITANIC. HE WAS DANCING. WHAT???

Ughhh go away Mr. Berman.

Oh gosh. "Until she heard her aunt's last words." WHAT NOW.

So the blinding light was actually the flash of a camera (papparazi), and Hamilton totally tackled the guy. Note- GUY. Not a woman. The intruder was a woman. Perhaps the guy was a distraction?

The guy might have gotten a photo of the woman!!

UGH IAN AND CARA ARE ASLEEP ON THE SAME SOFA NO

So the intruder didn't steal anything- she left something. A clog, with a poem on it. The disaster is going to be in Holland, and the devastation will rival Katrina. Is there a dam or something that could be broken? I don't know much about Holland...

Now Ian wants to send a team of assassins to attack Attleboro. Ian, I think you're losing it a bit.

DONT CALL CARA ADORABLE IAN KABRA I SWEAR

I'm worried about Ian. Everyone is saying he's a bit unhinged, and I think they're right.. I know the Hindenburg upset him but he's kind of losing it.

XD Oh my goshhhhh Hamilton bribed the paparazzi with an embarrassing video of Jonah, and Jonah started chasing him with the clog...

Oh my gosh. The intruder was Cora Wizard.

Jonah is naturally really upset. And Ian can empathize.

Haha, Ian's so bad at trying to be comforting, but it's really funny.

He's also super arrogant in this chapter, which is getting on my nerves. He'd lost a lot of that and it's coming back.

DONT CALL CARA CUTE

They think that this isn't going to be a natural disaster. A lot of Katrina had to do with failed leadership.

Back to Attleboro for Chapter 6...

The Outcast is thinking about how family and loyalty had been Grace's undoing. Gosh I want to see how this storyline unfolds.

NONONO THE OUTCAST SAID TO DISPOSE OF SALADIN. HED BETTER NOT HURT MY BABY.

Back to Mt Fuji...

I love Nellie and Sammy so much...they need a ship name.

Avalanche!! No!!

Nellie was almost buried alive but made it out okay. Thank goodness.

Back to Italy and the Cahill kids for chapter 7

IAN GETS TEA! YAY!

Dan and Amy are thinking about the Outcast, and how perhaps Beatrice knew something. They plan to go to her will reading the next day.

UGH CARA AND IAN ARE ON THE SAME TEAM UGH.

Ian tensed when Cara touched him. I'm so confused about them, ugh. I agree with Dan- "the whole thing made him want to puke." He's on Ian and Cara's team, maybe he can break them up somehow.

Current Mood- Wanting to kill Carian

HI! SO! Sorry I didn't get the first live blog up. Basically long story short, most of my friends went to a competition this weekend that I wasn't able to go to, and when I was in the middle of writing this, they FaceTimed me. SO, I'm just now getting back to it. Sorry!!

Chapters 1-3

Anyone else think of Irina when Alek was ordering the captain not to make small talk? That's just what she said to the cab driver. Parallels make me cry.

Death within the first chapter. Yay. Yes, I'm aware it wasn't an important character BUT STILL. It doesn't bode well.

NOO I JUST SET THE BOOK DOWN TO TYPE AND CREASED A PAGE. Dang it.

The mention of Trust No One killed me. TRUST GRACE. ALWAYS TRUST HER. Jenny Goebel seems to like parallels. Yay. That won't hurt.

I really wish Amy would trust Grace. This is bugging me.

"Grace has created a violent and conscious circle, a hurricane of evil." Is this "Mission Hurricane" ?

HI IAN!!

NO PLZ DONT CRACK

Someone else is in their villa!

Apparently there was a woman in the villa but they couldn't catch her. Sinead? I've heard she isn't in this book though..

Chapter 2 ends with Hamilton and Amy blinded by light. Great.

Aaaand now we're in Japan. NELLIE!!!

Apparently she and Sammy are summiting Mount Fuji. Be careful!!

The restaurant owner said that its Avalanche season on Fuji. How convenient.

Ahhhh Nellie and Sammy are so cute though. THEYD BETTER SURVIVE.

Time to keep reading!

Deaths....

Okay. So. I'm trying to be realistic here. There are two books left in the series, and there's no way we're going to get away without any deaths. The question is, who's going to die? I've been trying to figure it out for days, and honestly there isn't anyone that I feel like is completely safe. So I decided to try to make a list of all the characters and my opinion on their chances of survival haha.

Amy- Okay. Amy. On the one hand, I kind of think she's safe, seeing as she's one of the more significant characters, and these books are technically for children. But on the other hand, what would be more scarring than to have the character you've followed for years pulled away from you? I also feel like she would sacrifice herself for someone else if given the opportunity, because she doesn't want any more of her family members to die. So in that respect, it almost wouldn't surprise me.

Dan- I don't really think that Dan is going to die. The only reason that I can see him dying is to cause Amy pain. From that standpoint, I can see him being killed. Other than that, he's not one that I'm really worried about. I could be wrong though.

Fiske- I won't be surprised at all if Fiske dies. Quite frankly I'm surprised that he's made it this long. He's on the older side, so he doesn't have that going for him. And since Nathaniel is involved, I have a bad feeling for Fiske. Being Grace's brother, he has a gigantic target on his back. In other words, my heart is probably going to be broken.

Nellie- I'm not exactly sure WHAT to think about Nellie. If she's killed at this point, after all that she's done for the Cahills, I swear to you I will riot. Seeing as she's getting close to having her happy ending with Sammy, there's a chance that she could die, because apparently the characters can never be happy. Maybe the authors will be kind, though...#letNelliebehappy2k16

Sammy- Speaking of Sammy, I think there's a very strong chance that he's not going to make it. I mean, first off, he's a new character. The writers seem to think that new characters are basically disposable, *coughPonycough* so I don't have high hopes for Sammy. BUT I WANT TO SEE HIM MARRY NELLIE. I NEED A PROPOSAL STAT.

Jonah- I've got to admit, I'm a little worried about Jonah. He's a bit of a less prominent character, but he's still well loved enough to leave the fangirls horrified if he dies. So from an author's standpoint, I can see the logic behind killing him. BUT I DON'T WANT TO LOSE MY BABY. I love Jonah so much.

Hamilton- I don't really think that Hamilton is going to die, especially in light of his reveal in Hindenburg. I don't know though, it seems like everyone is at risk.

Ian- I'm really worried about Ian. He's already the character that's basically lost everything. So in a way, I wouldn't be surprised to see him die. even though I would hurt someone.  Plus, having his dad involved could get interesting. Like, what if Vikram actually killed him? Or watched him die?? I don't know, that's how my mind works. Plus, he's a fairly well-loved character, so it would elicit a huge reaction. A very dramatic ending to a traumatic life. Wouldn't surprise me.

Saladin- HE'S LITERALLY WITH THE OUTCAST. HIS LIFE COULD BE ENDING AS WE SPEAK.

Cara- I don't think she's going to die because that would make me too happy but can she please???

Atticus- Eh, he hasn't been in this series at all. I'd say his death chances are extremely low.

Jake- Same as Att, very low chances. I will say that if they bring him back in like, the last book, and he has tons of love scenes with Amy I just might have to go pay Sarwat Chaddah a visit.

So what do you think? Who's going to die?

Merry Christmas, 39 Clues!

Before I even get into this post, let me just say that yes, I am aware that Christmas was like, 5 days ago. Sorry about that. I really wanted to do a Christmas post though, I just never had a chance. Things were crazy before Christmas, and I've just had no motivation ever since. It's been nice to have a break, although I have missed blogging. SO, you're getting a five day late Christmas post. Enjoy.

-------------

Amy would be a Christmas fanatic. The decorations would be up the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas music would be playing 24/7, and all of her gifts would be bought before December 1st. Amy was trying super hard to make Christmas just as wonderful as Grace always had. She would also be that person who's annoyingly good at gift giving, always managing to find that perfect gift based off of an offhanded comment that someone made six months ago. (In other words, Amy is basically my sister.) She wore the scarf that Natalie had given her for Christmas a few years ago (y'know, the one Nat sent her the bill for..) quite often during the holidays, as a little reminder of her.

Dan would be that annoying person who's constantly trying to figure out what you're giving them, and just will. not. leave. you. ALONE!!! For the entire month of December, he kept getting caught rummaging under someone's bed, or in someone's closet, trying to find the Christmas presents that they'd hidden away. It finally got to the point where Amy and Nellie refused to ever leave him home alone, and Fiske installed new locks on every door. Of course, that didn't do much good- Dan had learned too much from Lightfingered Larry. Amy was strongly regretting ever making Dan take that course....

Fiske decided that this Christmas, thanks to Dan, they needed higher security. After all, they had a gigantic headquarters in their house- couldn't they at least keep Dan away from the Christmas tree? He kind of gave up, though, after he accidentally almost burnt off the bottom of the tree with lasers. Instead, he focused his energy on being in charge of the outdoor lights. It started with simple white lights, but by December 20th, there were flashing reindeer on the front lawn, accompanied by a small army of elves.

Nellie, of course, was focused on the food. She wanted everyone to get their favorite holiday food, which ended up biting her when she ended up with a two-page list of different dishes that had been requested. She and Sammy spent the whole week before Christmas making grocery lists, shopping, and prepping the food. In the spare moments that she wasn't prepping for the feast, she put together a custom cookbook for Sammy, filled with their favorite recipes.

Ian wouldn't be super into the holiday spirit, but the rest of the Cahills would basically force it onto him. On December 1st, he would wake up to find a holiday blanket at the foot of his bed, and his drawers filled with tacky Christmas sweaters. He didn't like that very much, and was not at all amused when Dan sat him down to watch The Grinch, saying, "Hey, Ian! It's you!" Throughout the month though, he'd slowly get into it a bit more, and at one point Amy actually caught him humming along to Jingle Bells.

Christmas was always a big deal for the Holts- they do everything big! Everyone thought that Hamilton was a bit like an elf, getting into the Christmas spirit almost TOO much. He wore red and green all month long, and was constantly wrapping presents and singing Christmas carols loudly and off-key. Jonah kept trying to give him voice lessons, but Hamilton usually refused and threw a chestnut at him.

Jonah would, obviously, get into the music. He'd keep trying to put a hip-hop spin on songs that really didn't need a hip-hop spin- his 'gangsta' version of White Christmas was just plain bizarre. He also kept trying to get the Cahills to all go caroling, but with the exception of Hamilton, no one was really interested. He finally gave up on trying to get everyone to sing carols around the piano when Ian threw out all of the sheet music.

-------------

Hope everyone's having a great holiday season!

The Only Way Mission Hurricane Could Work

Okay, so I've been thinking. I know that we're all kind of freaked out by the idea of Mission Hurricane, especially with the fear that a weather machine will be brought into the picture again. Honestly, I don't know if this book is going to work out well or not. But I have thought of ONE way that it could go that would actually be handling everything well.

The 39 Clues writers have to know by now that we all hated Day of Doom. It's pretty obvious, and let's be real, the fangirls haven't exactly been quiet about it hahaha. So, what if in this book, they almost made fun of how things went down in Day of Doom?

The Cahills figure out that the Outcast wants to do something involving Katrina. Immediately, Dan says something like, "Oh gosh, not this again."And everyone is just completely done at this point. They're all like, "You've got to be kidding me. We've been through this already! How stupid is this guy?"

I can't quite see the Outcast being stupid enough to do a weather machine. The encounter with the Vespers should be common Cahill knowledge at this point after all. A genius like the Outcast wouldn't want to do that again. He wants to put the kids through something new.

Also, Ian would have to be kind of panicked over the idea. After all, last time a machine was involved, his mother and Natalie were killed. It would have to totally freak him out. I'd also like to see Amy have a bit of a mental breakdown thinking about what happened with Evan. It's like all of that was glossed over, and I'd like to see it brought back up.

So everyone would be really ticked about having to deal with a weather machine again, along with Ian and Amy being nervous/not wanting to lose more people. They'd both be super tense, and they'd probably argue over how to go about all of this, but there could also be an Amian moment in there somewhere, which would make me happy.

Then, they would realize that the Outcast was bringing up the machine to mess with their minds, and that Katrina was a distraction. The true disaster would be something else, although I'm not sure what. In 2005, North Korea announced that they possess nuclear weapons, so maybe that could come up in preparation for Mission Atomic? I'm not sure. Anything but a hurricane, please...

I don't know what's going to happen. But if it worked out this way, I think that it could be handled well. What do you think?

~Storm Warning

I always thought it was interesting how Dan and Amy didn't kill her while they had the chance...let's be honest the real surprise is that Nellie didn't personally finish her off xD

A Cahill Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I am so thankful for so many things, particularly for all of you who read and comment on this blog! :) <3

Let's visit the Cahill Family Thanksgiving, shall we?

---------------------------------

Like she did with Halloween, Amy would get super into Thanksgiving. She'd have cornucopias and fake leaves and pumpkins all over. She would go crazy trying to plan everything out perfectly, although actually executing the meal prep wouldn't exactly be her forte. Decorating the table would be one of her favorite things, making sure everyone sat in the correct place and that the centerpiece was gorgeous. She'd love getting to have everyone together, though, since she didn't ever get that big happy family Thanksgiving when she was growing up.

Dan would love Thanksgiving for one main reason- the food. While everyone else is going around the table saying what they're grateful for, Dan would be eating a turkey leg under the table. In the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, he would be dropping Nellie hints about what she should make, and suggesting every type of pie imaginable. Nellie would have kick him out of the kitchen multiple times for sneaking too much food.

Fiske would be very serious about the "everyone say what they're thankful for" routine. Dan would drive him insane trying to stuff his face before everyone was finished. He'd be super traditional about the menu, wanting to use tons of old recipes, and arguing with Nellie about how she used way too many spices.

Nellie would go NUTS getting ready for Thanksgiving. It would be her favorite holiday simply because of all the food. She'd probably be planning the menu for a month beforehand, and wouldn't listen to everyone's protests when she starts making Asian gravy. The only person she would let help her in the kitchen would be Sammy (who everyone else would probably try to bribe). By the time she was done with the cooking, they would have enough food to last for weeks, but who cares? That just means that she gets to come up with more ways to use turkey!

Ian wouldn't quite know what to think of Thanksgiving. It would be a pretty new concept for him, growing up in England. He'd ask tons of questions about the original Thanksgiving until Jonah finally threw a history textbook at him. He also would be super uncomfortable when everyone went around saying what they're thankful for. Waaaaaay too emotional for him. I'd like to think, though, that before he rattled off some generic response, he glanced at Amy, just for a moment.

Hamilton would spend most of his time trying to organize a football game outside after everyone had eaten. Naturally, this didn't go over too well, but he insisted, saying it was "a Holt family tradition." He'd give up after about an hour when Amy had dropped every ball that came her way, Ian was complaining because he tore the hem of his trousers, Nellie was complaining about hunger pangs, and Jonah was too busy rewatching parade footage.

Speaking of Jonah, he would be pretty bummed about not being invited to be in the Macy's parade. Apparently the parade coordinators didn't like his new projects, and were concerned that he was too unbalanced after the famous "mime incident". He would probably spend the morning glumly staring at the TV, criticizing everyone for their bad lip synching. That afternoon, however, he'd become obsessed with starting Christmas music, and getting everyone to Christmas carol. Fiske would claim that they had to wait until tomorrow, but Jonah finally convinced everyone to do one round of Deck The Halls before they all ran off with excuses.

There was a definite bittersweet nature thinking of the family who couldn't be there, and Amy teared up a bit when she thought about how much Mac would have loved the branches all being together. Mainly, though, everyone would just be thankful to have a day of safety, and thankful for everyone who was able to be there.
