Mission Hurricane Live Blogging- Chapters 14-17

Disclaimer: This post WILL contain spoilers. If you haven't read the book yet, you may not want to read this post.

Dan fills Amy in on the bomb situation. They're both kind of about to lose it, but Dan cheers up immediately when he sees Saladin on the screen. That was sweet.

They had to break into the hangar, tricks most likely learned from Light Fingered Larry.

The hangar was decorated with tons of different flight-related things, now covered with a layer of dust. We get another sad scene of Amy reminiscing. Jenny, you're killing me.

SERIOUSLY STOP WITH THESE SCENES AGH

OH MY GOSH THEY BROUGHT THE QUOTE FROM TITANIC BACK THAT WAS SO COOL

Ugh Alek. He always brings trouble...

STOP IT ALEK IRINA WAS WONDERFUL IM GOING TO HURT YOU.

He makes me nervous.

"The worst traps in life are set by the ones we love." Gosh I love that sentence.

"Would now be an okay time to mention that your grandmother always freaked me out?" XD I loved that section

I love how much of Grace is in this series it's great.

Oh my gosh I love that story about crooked frames. Even back then Grace was preparing you, Amy! If only you would see it!

HAM NO

Gosh

Ahhhhh I love how all the Grace memories have clues it's so cool.

Safe- open!!

Dang it we're back in Japan now

So Nellie and Sammy find Magnus stealing things from the Tomas vault- serum ingredients.

UGH LET THE SERUM DIE ALREADY

GO SAMMY!!! He disabled the fingerprint scanner so that Magnus is trapped in the room. Sammy, you rock.

Aaaaaand back to Massachusetts!

The kids have the files, but they're stuck underground. Yay.

Hamilton's awake!!! Sweet!!

Oh my gosh, so the "black files" were files that Grace collected of dirt on all of the Cahills. I kind of love it not gonna lie XD

There's even a file on Eisenhower.

Grace basically got him kicked out of West Point. I don't know what to think. On the one hand, I can see how it was for the good of the family. On the other...

YES WE FINALLY GET TO HEAR ABOUT NATHANIEL THERES A FILE HALLELUJAH

AMY. YOU DO HAVE TO TELL US NOW. SPIT IT OUT.

My guess is since it apparently involved Hope he threatened to kill her or something I don't know. I know that's probably why Grace ordered him out.

Someone's coming inside. Oh gosh.

NO! NOT JONAH!! NO!!!

Oh no..poor Jonah..why is it always his legs??????? I'm glad he's okay though.

Oh my gosh. ..foam? Um, is Alek dead..?

Mission Hurricane Live Blogging- Chapters 12-13

Disclaimer: This post WILL contain spoilers. If you haven't read the book yet, you may not want to read this post.

(Sorry, guys! I know you've been reading, but I got called off into the Skype world again. Oops!! But I'm back now, hopefully for good!!!!)

Back to Amsterdam!!

Cara, Ian, and Dan are trying to figure out the technicalities of a nuclear bomb exploding underwater.

I feel so bad for Ian in this moment, he has a horrible amount of pressure on him. Being the leader of the Cahills certainly isn't a fun job.

They didn't even tell us the worst part yet. Thanks to some digging, they learned that the disaster is going to take place...tomorrow.

(side note: am I the only one who wouldn't mind Cara having an unfortunate accident with this disaster?)

Back to Boston!

I'm pretty sure this is going to be the funniest chapter in the world.

"She requested that those present remain silent, and that no one be allowed to leave until the reading is over. So please, no matter how, er, ugly, this gets, do not vacate your seats."

Oh my gosh I can't wait to read this.

...this is beautiful XD

Oh my GOSHHH her last words to Amy and Dan. XD It's so mean but I just cannot stop laughing!!

SHE KEPT DIARIES!!! Oh my word what I would not give to read those. Can that be its own series? Please?

So of course Berman went off to hunt for the diaries..

Oh my gosh XD Beatrice donated her entire fortune of 20 million to the Porcelain Cats Are People Too Foundation XD That is golden.

Berman got the diaries, but Amy, Dan, and Hamilton threatened him into handing them over.

OH NO SALADINS AT THE SHELTER NONONO

The Cahills are frantically trying to find the shelter and save him. I SWEAR...

HES OKAY!! YAY!! I love how he nearly murdered that employee XD

Now time to read the diaries..

Oh my gosh, I love that Grace put fish oil in Bea's facial cream..

Amy is still worried about Grace, but I think from that entry it's obvious that Nathaniel was bad news. Come on, Amy. Trust her.

TIME TO CALL FISKE

I hate hearing him sick. It crushes me. He's still so sweet.

Fiske said that Grace might have kept some files that could be of use in her airplane hangar. Only problem- it's in Attleboro.

Deaths....

Okay. So. I'm trying to be realistic here. There are two books left in the series, and there's no way we're going to get away without any deaths. The question is, who's going to die? I've been trying to figure it out for days, and honestly there isn't anyone that I feel like is completely safe. So I decided to try to make a list of all the characters and my opinion on their chances of survival haha.

Amy- Okay. Amy. On the one hand, I kind of think she's safe, seeing as she's one of the more significant characters, and these books are technically for children. But on the other hand, what would be more scarring than to have the character you've followed for years pulled away from you? I also feel like she would sacrifice herself for someone else if given the opportunity, because she doesn't want any more of her family members to die. So in that respect, it almost wouldn't surprise me.

Dan- I don't really think that Dan is going to die. The only reason that I can see him dying is to cause Amy pain. From that standpoint, I can see him being killed. Other than that, he's not one that I'm really worried about. I could be wrong though.

Fiske- I won't be surprised at all if Fiske dies. Quite frankly I'm surprised that he's made it this long. He's on the older side, so he doesn't have that going for him. And since Nathaniel is involved, I have a bad feeling for Fiske. Being Grace's brother, he has a gigantic target on his back. In other words, my heart is probably going to be broken.

Nellie- I'm not exactly sure WHAT to think about Nellie. If she's killed at this point, after all that she's done for the Cahills, I swear to you I will riot. Seeing as she's getting close to having her happy ending with Sammy, there's a chance that she could die, because apparently the characters can never be happy. Maybe the authors will be kind, though...#letNelliebehappy2k16

Sammy- Speaking of Sammy, I think there's a very strong chance that he's not going to make it. I mean, first off, he's a new character. The writers seem to think that new characters are basically disposable, *coughPonycough* so I don't have high hopes for Sammy. BUT I WANT TO SEE HIM MARRY NELLIE. I NEED A PROPOSAL STAT.

Jonah- I've got to admit, I'm a little worried about Jonah. He's a bit of a less prominent character, but he's still well loved enough to leave the fangirls horrified if he dies. So from an author's standpoint, I can see the logic behind killing him. BUT I DON'T WANT TO LOSE MY BABY. I love Jonah so much.

Hamilton- I don't really think that Hamilton is going to die, especially in light of his reveal in Hindenburg. I don't know though, it seems like everyone is at risk.

Ian- I'm really worried about Ian. He's already the character that's basically lost everything. So in a way, I wouldn't be surprised to see him die. even though I would hurt someone.  Plus, having his dad involved could get interesting. Like, what if Vikram actually killed him? Or watched him die?? I don't know, that's how my mind works. Plus, he's a fairly well-loved character, so it would elicit a huge reaction. A very dramatic ending to a traumatic life. Wouldn't surprise me.

Saladin- HE'S LITERALLY WITH THE OUTCAST. HIS LIFE COULD BE ENDING AS WE SPEAK.

Cara- I don't think she's going to die because that would make me too happy but can she please???

Atticus- Eh, he hasn't been in this series at all. I'd say his death chances are extremely low.

Jake- Same as Att, very low chances. I will say that if they bring him back in like, the last book, and he has tons of love scenes with Amy I just might have to go pay Sarwat Chaddah a visit.

So what do you think? Who's going to die?

Mission Hindenburg- Villains Going Soft?

Is it just me, or...were some of the villains in Mission Hindenburg kind of..soft? I don't know. But between the three featured villains (the Outcast, Vikram, and Alek), I was kind of surprised.

Okay, let's start with the Outcast. Yes, he is extremely ruthless. He killed Aunt Beatrice, and was responsible for the deaths of thirty-six people in the explosion. But the one scene that really surprised me was the scene with Saladin. He was keeping the cat in a cage, and although he wasn't feeding him red snapper, all in all Saladin seems to be doing pretty well. The Outcast is feeding him, and it didn't seem like Saladin was being treated badly. That just kind of struck me as odd, I honestly expected the Outcast to kill Saladin. Although if Nathaniel is the Outcast, he may have been around cats a lot when he and Grace were together, and had a soft spot for them or something? I don't know. I just thought it was kind of weird.

Vikram. Vikram, Vikram, Vikram. Oh my gosh.

He saved Ian's life.

That's right, Vikram Kabra. The same man who was married to Isabel Kabra, has tortured and killed hundreds of people, and abused Natalie and Ian their entire childhoods. That just honestly blows my mind. He made sure that Ian wasn't on the ship that was going to blow up, and he specifically told the Outcast that he didn't want Ian harmed. That seems SO out of character for him. I know that we really haven't read much about him, but he just doesn't seem like the type to care. It's obvious he was never kind to Ian when he was growing up, as we know from the countless times Ian has mentioned his father's abuse. So....why does he care if the Outcast kills Ian?

Last up, Alek. I may be the only person who picked up on this, but did anyone else notice that he didn't directly kill Nellie and Sammy when he was given the opportunity? Yes, he left them in the room with the acid bomb. But that's the thing. He left them there. He had the opportunity to just shoot them or something, but he didn't. He left them in the room, where they still had a tiny chance of escape. That could just be something that I noticed, but who knows? Maybe he has a bit more of his sister in him than we've thought...?

I don't know. These are all just things that I've noticed; it's kind of random, but I find it kind of weird. That may just be how London wrote it, but I don't know why the villains weren't more....evil. It's bothering me. I'm not even sure what I'm getting at here, why I'm posting it. But did anyone else notice this?

Mission Hindenburg Live Blogging- Chapters 7-10

Disclaimer: This post WILL contain spoilers. If you haven't read the book yet, you may not want to read this post.

These chapters were pretty good! Here are my thoughts throughout the reading-

*sigh* It was so sad when Ian was reminiscing about Natalie. I wish that she hadn't died....

THERE WAS A *TINY* AMIAN MOMENT!! I DONT CARE HOW TINY, IT WAS STILL THERE!!!! :D

...then he started thinking about Cara. -_-

WHAT THE HECK NELLIE IS BACK AND SHE'S FINE??? WHAT??? I mean I'm of course thrilled but WHAT???? There's no reference to what happened? If this isn't cleared up later, I'm going to be ticked.

Apparently Vikram Kabra is involved with the airship competition. Surprise surprise, he's involved. I'm actually interested to read more about him, he's never really been mentioned much.

SALADIN'S OKAY!!! YES!!!!! I'm so happy to read that. I was worried the Outcast would kill him. Hey, at least he's alive for now! And he's feeding him and everything, even if it's not red snapper.

Alek has been assigned to go to Moscow to get rid of Nellie and Sammy. He apparently wants to avenge the death of his sister, Irina.

It was kind of funny to see Dan get all nerdy-excited about space travel. He's getting more and more like his sister! XD

The Cahills have a theory that one of the spaceships is going to blow up- whichever one flies closest to the sun. The one closest to the sun would be the winning ship, so the ship that they're looking for would have to be the only one that isn't sabotaged.

Aaaaaand, Ian's flipping out, surprise surprise. Amy isn't the type to blindly follow orders, and that's driving him crazy. Big shock there. XD

Seeing Ian flip was really funny, but it was kind of sad at the same time. He's under a to of pressure, and he's trying to do what he thinks is right.

"As they stepped from the plane and piled into the limousine, he quietly feared he had just ordered at least one of them to step on board a flying bomb. If things went wrong, the death of one of his only friends would be on his hands."

THAT IS SO SAD!! Gah. It seriously kills me.

Time to read again! Another post will be coming soon:)

Cara

Hey everyone! I know that I haven't done a very good job of blogging lately, I've mainly been just doing quotes. BUT, I'm finally finished with school, so I have lots of time to rant here!! (*readers all hide*)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, lately I've been thinking a lot about Cara. If you've been reading this blog, you know that she's not exactly my favorite character. But I've been talking it over with my mom and sister (both of whom I've forced to read the books), and we're gathering more and more evidence/theories/opinions that Cara is No Good.
(If you're a fan of Cara or Carian, I would like to apologize in advance. Please don't murder me in the comments below. That being said, I'd love opinions! Just not opinions that involve borrowing Natalie's dart gun.)
1. Saladin
I've blogged about this before (you can find that post here), but I want to bring it up again. Cara threatened to get rid of Saladin. You. Do. Not. Mess. With. Saladin. Ever. Also, it was mentioned in a comment about Doublecross-
Note that this was right after Cara threatened to get rid of Saladin. The book also ended with the line, "He didn't see any trouble with these two. As long as the red snapper kept coming."
(I'm paraphrasing, I don't have the book with me at the moment, so that quote may not be exact. If it is, my 39 Clues skills are more on point than I've thought)
Coincidence? I THINK NOT!
2. Ekat
Okay, this proof isn't really solid, but it's just something that comes in to play. Cara is an Ekat, as is the Outcast. Does this automatically mean that Cara is evil? No, of course not. But seeing as the Outcast is also an Ekat, I just think that it's something to consider. (Can I just also point out that there seem to be a LOT of evil Ekats? The Outcast, Bae, possibly Cara, temporarily Sinead...gosh. They're practically as ruthless as the Lucians.)
3. Betrayal
We were told that in this series, there would be a "betrayal that the Cahill kids never see coming." Now, in my opinion, for a betrayal to be this big, it has to be from someone close. But at the same time, we know that there isn't going to be a betrayal from any of the main Cahills (Amy, Dan, Ian, Hamilton, Jonah, Nellie, Fiske). So really, if you think about it, that leaves Cara and Sammy. I'm trying not to think about that fact that Sammy could be evil (although that has crossed my mind,  but that's a post for another time). Cara could easily be working her way in, prepping for a betrayal.
4. Ian
Speaking of betrayal, let's talk about Ian for a second. Now, this isn't proof. It's just a theory that's been churning in my mind, and I wanted to share it. I feel like Cara is manipulating Ian. Like she's trying to get into his head, and then is going to turn on him. Cara could possibly be trying to set him up. I also feel like Cara could be really good bait for Ian. All that the Outcast would have to do would be to say that Cara was in danger, and Ian would come to rescue her. Cara could then be perfectly fine, and Ian could be killed. If Ian dies....I will not handle it well, let's just say that. If you notice, it also seems like Ian cares a lot more about Cara than she does for him. Let's take this quote from Mission Titanic for instance-
Seems like Cara doesn't like Ian as much as Ian likes her. Hmm.
I'm going to post a bunch of different theories later (because I have like, six different theories about how the next three books could go down), so I'll just say this. Cara could easily be manipulating Ian to get what she wants. And it may not end well for the Cahills.
5. Doublecross
This may or may not mean anything, but it's just something I noticed. In Flashpoint, the word "Doublecross" was only used about one person. Coincidentally, that person was Cara. That could mean nothing, but it's just something that I picked up.
6. Convenience
With Cara, there seem to be a lot of...convenient circumstances. For example, she just happens to be able to very easily get into touch with Atlas, one of the most dangerous men in the world, and he replies quite rapidly. I get that the Cahills have made a name for themselves, but I really just don't see Atlas responding that quickly to a bunch of teenagers. Also, let's look at the scene where the kids are on the boat with Atlas and almost die. On the boat, we have Ian, Amy, Dan, and Hamilton. 4/5 of the Cahills. If Atlas had killed them, Jonah would be the only person left for Cara to deal with. And frankly, I feel like most people underestimate him as just being the pretty boy. So all Cara would have to do would be to knock off Jonah, and she has the Cahill leadership all to herself. Just a theory, but it's definitely possible, in my opinion. Atlas could be in on all of it, working with Cara and the Outcast. Opinions?
What do you think of Cara?
Saladin and Ian...Always Trouble!!
~The Medusa Plot
Hahaha, the relationship between Saladin and Ian is one of the funniest parts of the series. I just love how much they loathe each other. (*sings* Loathing! Unadulturated loathing! Sorry, had to throw some Wicked in there ;) ) Really though Dan, can't you TRY to be nicer to Ian??? Oh well, it's funny. I just love this passage.
A Quote, Back to the Beginning!
~Dan Cahill, Maze of Bones
I thought it would be fun to do a quote back from the very first book!!! :)
IMPORTANT: Saladin Theory!!!!!
Oh. My. Gosh. Guys, I may have just happened upon our first real evidence that Cara Pierce is up to no good. So, you know how in the end of Flashpoint, she makes a comment about to Ian about how they should get rid of Saladin? Now, that's already bad enough. I mean, Saladin's amazing! So when I read that, my first thought was, "Gosh, I'm disliking this girl more and more." But then, this morning, I was talking different theories over with my sister, and was reading Jude Watson's book description again, when I noticed this-
Now, I'd of course read this before, but I kind of skimmed over it since I was thinking a bit more about things like who the villain would be. After all, it seems kind of unimportant, doesn't it? But looking back, it now seems EXTREMELY important. Why would Jude Watson just throw a random comment about Saladin in there if it didn't mean anything? Ian may dislike Saladin, but he knows better than not to treat him correctly. He has enough respect for Amy to make sure that Saladin is taken care of. ( *cough*takenotesJake*cough* ) But Cara had JUST made that comment at the end about getting rid of Saladin. What if that was just a bit of foreshadowing for what was to come?? If you think about it, it actually makes a LOT of sense!! What do you guys think? In my opinion, that,a actually some pretty good proof against Cara. Opinions??? I need to talk this over with someone!!! PLEASE comment your thoughts below!!!
Ian + Saladin = Pain
Love this from one of the online missions! The relationship between Ian and Saladin is hilarious....
